The play touches both on everyday and crucial moments, alternating between fun times and more intimate moments.Lili's games with her friends in the park or the secrets she shares are some of the happy episodes. At the same time, she discovers the exhilaration of falling in love. Yet, worries begin to interfere with her carefree mood.
These drastic changes prompt her to take her first anxious yet excited steps into the world of adolescence. The stage, as unsteady as her inner space, begins to spin, turning into an ocean where a mermaid comes and saves a ship tossing in the waves.
"There is plenty of action to keep the kids enthralled, and the overall sophistication and athleticism of the show will make it appeal to adults, making Lili ... ideal family entertainment."
"... And it is amazing to watch how agile and how beautifully they move. There's a lot of poetic ballet going on in this. And what's interesting is to see how kids are able to, in a sense, process the fact that the story is being told both through language, and essentially, and primarily through movement.
“... the physical expressiveness draws from contemporary dance and circus acrobatics to create what boils down to a supreme tale of ballet in the eyes of youngsters. In short, one of the best productions ever shown at the Alameda Theatre.”
“Youths ... are enthralled by the sheer power and beauty of the performer’s elevated and balanced gymnastics, as well as the cast’s capricious frivolity.”
